How We Come Together Is How We Change The World

At Hey Days Nursery, we believe every child deserves to feel valued, understood, and empowered to reach their full potential. Our inclusive approach creates a welcoming environment where diversity is celebrated and all children – regardless of background, ability or need – can flourish. We actively promote positive attitudes, challenge stereotypes, and ensure our practice meets the individual needs of every child in our care.
Our dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs) play a vital role in supporting children with additional needs. With extensive experience working with various needs including hearing impairments, speech and language delays, and developmental differences, our SENCOs provide:
– Expert guidance to practitioners on inclusive teaching strategies
– Personalised support plans developed in partnership with parents
– Coordination with a network of specialist professionals
– Access to additional funding and resources when needed
We maintain strong partnerships with local authorities and specialist services including:
– Kirklees Council’s Childcare Inclusion Team
– Speech and Language Therapists
– Portage Workers
– Autism Outreach Specialists
– Teachers of the Deaf – These collaborations ensure we can implement targeted support through Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs).
Our Key Person system ensures every child receives individual attention. Each child’s Key Person:
– Builds strong, trusting relationships with child and family
– Conducts regular observations using EYFS frameworks
– Monitors progress across all developmental areas
– Identifies any emerging needs at the earliest opportunity
When concerns are identified – particularly in the prime areas of Personal, Social & Emotional Development (PSED), Communication & Language (CL), or Physical Development (PD) – we take prompt, collaborative action. Our staged approach includes:
1. Initial discussions between Key Person and parents
2. SENCO assessment and strategy implementation
3. Specialist referrals (with full parental involvement)
4. Ongoing review and adaptation of support
We’re proud to offer a nursery environment where differences are celebrated, all children feel they belong, and every family receives the understanding and support they need. Our team receives regular training to ensure we can meet the evolving needs of all children in our care, creating a truly inclusive early years experience.

“I’m very impressed with the different experiences Hey Days offer the children and I have recommended the setting to several other friends and colleagues due to this and other factors. I feel my children are safe, well cared for and thrive at Hey Days and I can’t recommend them highly enough.”
